Sam, along with Katie French and Mhairi won Gold in the Relay Championships and then again in the Team Championships. In the individual event, Sam came 7th overall and this is what she said about the weekend when speaking to the Club:

After graduating from university I managed to knuckle down and get some quality training in before the European Champs. I was feeling good however there were still some gaps in my training, mainly in the running and shooting disciplines. At the competition, we took Gold in the relay and Gold again in the team which were really pleasing results for our squad. In the individual I had a real shot at a medal, as I started in the Combined (run and shoot) in 3rd position. However I let myself down by not managing my anxieties and focusing accordingly on the task in hand…hitting that black ring! It may sound simple, but in practice it requires a controlled mind and refined skill,  both executed simultaneously under pressure. Finishing in 7th is a solid result. I have come home with positives but also clear areas to work on. I have some time off now then on the 22nd July I will begin my preparations for the World Champs which are to be held in Taipei in August. Onwards and upwards as they say!”

Sam is currently ranked 9th in the world and the Harriers send their best wishes to her for the World Championships.
