Some tremendous performances by the Harriers at the Indoors this weekend. At the National Indoor U15/U17/U20 Championships in Sheffield, Morgan Angland contested the U17 60m Hurdles – Ben Aspinall went in the U20 Men’s Triple Jump and Archie Braysford in the U17 Men’s 60m.

Morgan reached the Final and had to compete in the Heats and Semi-Final which is a tough ask in one day. In her Heat she finished 2nd in 9.00 to qualify for the Semi-Final where she ran a new PB of 8.86 to finish in 3rd spot and qualify for the final from 52 entries. In the final she again broke the 9 second barrier taking 7th place in 8.95. After she told the ClubReally pleased with my performance, didn’t expect to get anywhere near the final, so pleased with my new PB and excited to see how I do next outdoor season x” Morgan’s PB also set a new Club Record, which is the second time in a few weeks that she has done so.

Ben contested the U20 Men’s Triple Jump and also set a new PB when he finished 7th in the Final with a leap of 13.72m. and was clearly delighted when he said that he “went to the England champs today, which was the best experience of athletics I’ve ever had. Jumping against the best in the uk was amazing and I’m pleased to say I finished 7th with a new personal best of 13.72m on my very first jump, more to come”.Most definitely.

The 60m Indoor Record for the Club has been in place since 1974 at 7.2 held by Ian Sudall. Archie wasn’t a million miles away at the Championships when he ran won his Heat in 7.28 to set a new PB and qualify for the Semi-Final. Archie took 4th place in the Semi’s with 7.30 and said afterwards that Overall I’m quite happy with today it was the second time I’d ran a 60 and it was nationals, gonna try get that club record!!”

Four Blackburn Harriers competed at the penultimate Indoor Fixture at Sportscity at the weekend and put in tremendous performances. Between them they entered 10 events and set 10 new PB’s.

U15 New member Joshua van der Linde set the ball rolling winning the U15 60m in 8.23seconds. When he took 2nd spot in the 200m in 27.9 he set his second PB of the day and completed a hat trick in the Long Jump with a leap of 4.08m.

U15 Nick Massey knocked eight tenths of a second off his PB for the 200m when he won his U15 Race in 25.19. He then won his 60m Hurdle Race in a new PB of 9.08 and rounded of a very good day with  a 5.00m leap in the Long Jump.

U15 Emily Warren cut three tenths off her 200m PB finishing 2nd in 28.21, came 3rd in the 60mHurdles Race with a time of 10.69 and extended her Long Jump PB by one cm with a jump of 4.05m.

A new PB for U23 Oliver Aspden in the 60m Hurdles winning his Race in 8.81seconds and was a fine performance following a long bout of illness.
