An unbelievably warm day with the sun shining on the athletes at the Red Rose third fixture held at Leverhulme Park on Saturday 22nd November…and plenty of mud to compensate!! Good overall turn outs in all the age categories too.

Individual & Team Standings after three Fixtures HERE

Eighty eight boys and ninety seven girls competed in the U11 Age Category.

Rory Teare who is gaining consistency in these events took a good 19th place in 7.27 and was followed very close behind by Edward Lee in 23rd (7.37). Joseph Carolan also had a solid run to take 47th place in 8.15 and debutant Kyle Taylor Pomfret had a good first time run out finishing 56th in 8.26. The Team finished 7th out of the nine Teams in the Race. After three fixtures Edward and Rory are in equal 20th position overall, with Joseph 44th in the Individual table.

Leah Hoole in the U11 Girls had another very good run and continues to improve. She finished 12th overall in a good time of 7.47 with just two seconds separating her from 8th place. Anna Rankine wasn’t far behind in 18th place (8.04) and Kate Cookson took 56th spot in 9.04 enabling the Girls to take 9th Team place out of 13.In the Individual Table Eleesha Charnley is in 11th place with Leah in 15th, Anna in 17th, Elanor Allsop in 25th, Kate in 57th and the girls are also lying 3rd in the Team Table so everything to play for at the last fixture at Rossendale.

SONY DSCJamie Teare is having a really good season so far finishing again in the top ten, At Bolton he was in 6th place (11.52) and just one second away from claiming a 5th position. Daniel Brown too is improving placing 22nd in a time of 13.23. In the Individual table Jamie is 9th and Daniel 27th. Anna Lonsdale finished 37th in the 58 strong U13 Girls Race in a time of 15.14.

SONY DSCIn the U15 Girls Megan Clarkson and Hannah Cookson had good runs both finishing in the top 10. Megan who is having a really good set of cross country runs finished 4th in 17.45 and Hannah placed 9th in 18.37. Megan lies in 4th overall in the individual Table to-date and is just one point off taking a Medal at the end of the season. Hannah lies in 10th place overall.

Eighteen teams featuring 136 runners contested the Women’s Senior Race with the Harriers finishing 8th overall. A welcome return to racing for Helen Leigh and given the length of time she has been out she had a very good run finishing 7th in 22.38. Katie Buckingham had another good race to take 17th place (24.09) and a very good 2nd place in the U20 Age Category and 3rd overall in the Individual Table. Then came Jan Buckingham in 85th (29.24) –  Alison Armour 88th in 29.43 – Michelle Teare 103rd (31.18 and Lisa Nuttall 113th (32.38). Phoebe Howe took 10th position in the U17 Age Category and lies in 9th place overall in the Individual Standings.

Two hundred and thirty six runners involving 19 Teams contested the Men’s Senior Race and amongst them nine Harriers.

There were cracking runs from Matt Nuttall finishing 7th in 37.02 and Chris Davies who is getting better by the Race (10th) in 37.30. John Sutton set off steady and then pulled back a lot of places on the last lap to take 35th place in 40.49. There were three U20 runners in the Team with Joe Campbell having a  good run to finish 40th in 41.02. Then came Joe Howe just behind in 46th (41.37) and Morgan Philips in 55th (42.13). Allan Hartley came 101st in 45.29, John Cookson 149th (47.29) and Ian Clarkson 162nd in 49.12).

In the Team Standings the Harriers are in 3rd place with the final fixture at Rossendale to come and a medal awaiting with a good turn out there. In the Vet Team Table the Harriers are in 1st Place in a close run contest with Todmorden.  In the V40’s Individual Standings John Sutton is in 4th place in the V40’s whilst in the V45 Standings Matt Nuttall is in top spot. In the U20’s Joe Campbell lies in 2nd place as he approaches the final fixture and there three athletes – Joe included – all on seven points and another one on 8 so everything at stake in the last Race. In the main Individual Standings Matt lies in 7th place, Chris =15th, John Sutton =27th, Joe Campbell 31st, Joe Howe 35th, Morgan Philips 53rd, Gary Pearse 55th, Allan Hartley 84th, John Cookson 123rd and Ian Clarkson 152nd.
