Ten runners from Blackburn took part and amongst them some fine performances and new PB’s. First home and with a new PB, reflecting the training he has been putting in was Tom Blaney who took 8th place in 34.22, to cut a huge 1min 23 seconds off his existing best time over the distance.
V45 Matt Nuttall who has been suffering with an injury for quite a while now finished 15th (35.12) and was 2nd V45 in the Race. V55 John Chaplin also had a 2nd place finish in his age category and clocked 37.18 , finishing 35th overall. V45 Michael Toms, ‘fresh’ from the Tour of Pendle last week in which he had a cracking run, placed 48th (38.10). Just behind was another athlete, Mark Almond, who is also making a return from injury and finishing one place behind Michael in 49th (38.16). Steve Foley, racing again on the road recorded a 41.36 clocking in 10th and Sarah Toms had a really solid race, finishing 114th in 42.09.
The final three places all saw the runners recording PB’s which was a brilliant achievement by each of them. Catherine Guinan (177th) in 47.08, Kaylie Panaro (179th) in 47.10 cutting one minute and eleven seconds off her existing PB and Jan Buckingham, just days away from her 50th birthday took 262nd place with 51.31 and a big reduction in her PB of one minute and forty four seconds. Training is clearly going well!!
