What a glorious sight and great day out for thousands of British endurance athletes. Against the background of Wollaton Park and its stately home – thousands of athletes from U13’s through to seniors and veterans battled it out over eleven races held on the day and, in the most amazing conditions for cross country racing. Blue sky, sun and little wind made the day a delight too for masses of coaches, parents and spectators as they shouted themselves hoarse, supporting their athletes on a tough and demanding course with its ‘ups and downs’. Added to the programme was the first Para Race which started the race programme off at 10.30 – being run over 4000m, won by Sam Fernando and greeted very enthusiastically by the spectators who applauded the runners the whole way through the race.
