We began this weekend – Saturday May 3rd with a new Club Record for the U15 Girls 4 x 300m which was so good that it was better than the records for both U20 Women and Senior Women. One day later that became two new Club Records when David Holman clocked 3.39.74 for the 1500m in America. Move forward 24 hours and it was our third Club Record in three days as U20 Charlie Unsworth broke Peter Beavan’s record for 200m set in 1970 at 21.50. Charlie clocked 21.46 with a 0.9 wind at Trafford today – Monday May 5th – to set himself a new PB and a Club Record. The time also puts Charlie in at Number 4 in the National U20 Rankings. In addition, In the Stadium after his race, it was announced that Charlie, who is 17yrs old, ran an All-Comers Record at Trafford for his age group and ran the 2nd fastest U20 time ever run at Trafford. In the 100m races Charlie Unsworth equaled his personal best with a time of 10.90 in 4th place with team mate Charlie Palich clocking 11.31 in the following Heat  (5th). Heat 11 saw Brandon Zinyemba run 11.69 for a seasons best in 4th whilst U17 Keir Michie clocked 11.80 in 5th spot – a tenth outside his personal best. First year U17 Matthew Sharples – in his first season with the Club – chopped a huge half a second of his previous best in winning his Heat in  a new PB time of 11.91 whilst another first year U17 – Jack Thompson– ran 13.41 in 5th place in his Heat. Bottom of age U17 Grace iLunga ran 14.23 in her 100m Heat (6th) as team mate U17 Evie Fort clocked 14.02 in 2nd position in her Heat.

In the 800m U15 Millie Jordan ran in Heat 1 of the 800m. Having won the 1500m at the UKYDL on Saturfday Millie went back to 800m and had a flyer – clocking 2.15.41, over a second and half faster as she set herself a new PB and moved to number 5 in the National U15 Girls Rankings. After her Race Millie spoke to the club about it saying “I managed to get a good start, and felt really strong throughout the race. I knew the competition would be tough as there were some great runners, but I really wanted a PB, and I’m very happy with my time.” Good to see the Sportshall youngsters having a go on the Bank Holiday Open as Harris Rawlinson ran 2.04.71 in 4th place in the 600m followed by jumping out to 3.15m in the Long Jump.
