Some of the Harriers youngsters contested the FRA Junior Uphill Only Championship Race at Sedbergh on Saturday July 9th.

Liz Greenwood and Grace Handley dashed over to the Race, after being given the wrong information about the scheduled time for the 1500m Race at the Lancashire Schools Championships held at Wigan on the same day, which prevented them from racing there.
Both of them made up for not having the chance to compete at Wigan by winning their respective Age Group Races at Sedbergh. In the U14 Race which combined both Boys and Girls, Grace placed 9th overall in a field of 39 and 1st U14 Girl (14:36). In the U16 Race, again combining Boys and Girls Liz was 15th overall out of 28 and 1st U16 Girl (27:49).
Liz with 2nd placed Jennifer Willison from Derby AC (29:19) and 3rd placed athlete Ellie Lambert from Wharfedale (31:09)
Grace with runner up in the U14 Race – Emma Clapton from Scarborough (14.52).
Thomas Harbour and Natalya Irvine also competed in the U14 Race – Thomas finished 14th in the Boys Race (15:39) and Natalya 12th in the Girls Race (17:16).
Jack Hindle continued his very promising Fell Season with another good run coming 3rd in in the U16 Race (24.00).
And last but by no means least – our Alayna Irvine – younger sister to Natalya – who ran in the U8 age category of Boys and Girls, finished 13th out of 28 and was 2nd home (3:29) just 3 seconds away from the winner – Sophie Rylance from Ambleside AC.
Now Alayna knows no limits when it comes to running, so to celebrate she decided to run through the fields!!
