Well there was lots of mud at Sefton a week ago at the annual Sefton Cross Challenge Series and there was even more of it at Marl Pits on Saturday – November 30th – as the last fixture of this years Red Rose Cross Country League took place with the South East Lancashire League also making it a joint fixture for the two leagues. The rain held off and it was a relatively balmy 12 degrees. (RESULTS). Five girls lined up for the Harriers in the U11 Girls race – Sophie Douglas, Jenna McKinlay, Pippa Blackburn, Scarlett Hamill and Scarlet Cothliff. Sophie led the girls home in 10th place followed by Jenna in 13th, Pippa in 20th, Scarlett Hamill in 32nd and Scarlett Cothliff in 39th who even though her shoe came off and had to stop to try and get it back on, got straight back into the race and all credit to her. Well done to all these young girls who have taken up cross country, some of whom were having their first efforts at it this year – combining to take 4th place in the team competition on the day. Three Harriers out in the U13 Boys race – Oliver North, Theo Addy and Ryker Hanson. Oliver was first home for the team in 6th place with team mates Theo in 13th and Ryker in 15th, which gave them 2nd place in the team competition behind Rossendale. Just two Harriers in the U13 Race – Esme Krige & Hannah Moore – Esme coming home in 24th spot with Hannah one place further back in 25th.
