It was a glorious afternoon and evening which greeted the athletes for the latest set of BMC races held at Loughborough Univerity on Saturday June 22nd. Warm, with not a lot of wind, made it favourable conditions for the athletes who produced some fine perforamnces on the night, including those posted by Blackburn Harriers athletes. (RESULTS).

Dominic Walton was the first Harrier up in the series of 800m races – after the first 100m Dominic had to take it up and had to lead for most of the rest of the race until being overtaken in the home straight posting 1.49.81 in 5th spot. Ben Stratton had a storming run, taking up the lead at the bell and holding it until the end, taking the win in a new PB time of 1.53.38, a two second improvement on his previous best. Oliver Gill ran next in his 800m heat, being unfortunate that he got caught up with a faller in his race with 200m to go which had an impact on all of the athletes times – Oliver placing 6th in 1.56.07. (Race Video). David Holman set himself a new PB by two tenths in his 800m race clocking 1.51.97 in 5th position and this after a lot of races in the last couple of months. Final race of the night featuring Harriers athletes was the B 3000m in which Dexta Thompson featured. His previous 3000m race was in April 2023 (9.03.34) and was rightly expecting a new personal best. He massively exceeded that, running a really good race and making the moves at the right time, opening up a lead with 180m to go, he wasn’t caught and took the win in a new PB time of 8.13.93 – a 49 second improvment over the distance.
