At the start of the week – Tuesday June 11th – a number of Blackburn Harriers competed at the latest of the BMC and Grand Prix fixtures hosted at Trafford. (BMC Gold Stadard Race Results). Dominic Walton was first up in the 800m A Race taking the win in a seasons best time of 1.49.59. In the Grand Prix Races six Blackburn Harriers were in action – Heat 3 of the 800m had Jack Lamb and Hayden Mercer – resulting in a new PB for Jack placing 2nd in 2.01.61 with team mate Hayden in 3rd 2.01.74. Codie Dewhurst in Heat 4 came home in a time of 2.02.18 in 5th spot as Logan McCredie won his Heat in a new PB time of 2.05.30. Also running a new PB was Henry Ward in his 800m Heat clocking 2.09.25 in 6th position. Run of the night came from Jack Baranowski (U15) who chopped an amazing 8 seconds off his previous best time in winning his 1500m Heat in a new PB time of 4.10.51 which takes him into 4th place in the National Rankings. V60 and Throws Coach Tony Balko was out in the field events on the night throwing 37.54m in the Hammer (5kg). In the previous week, Tony had travelled to York for an Open Meeting, winning the Shot Piutt (5kg) with a distance of 11.13m and placing 3rd in the Discus (1kg) with a throw of 36.29m and a new PB.
