The Club has just been informed today that work is potentially
set to start on laying down the new Track on Monday August 11th.
Can i stress that this is a provisional date and you should keep a look out for updates on the situation which will be put on the Club Website by going to News & Info and then clicking on Notice Board where the latest up to date information will be available.
This is great news and with the new floodlights in, the arena will look fantastic and provide a great venue for our Training Groups and for our ability to host Competition Fixtures.
But What Does This Mean For Your Training Group in the Short term?
Hurdles
Sessions are on Sunday 11.00 – 1.00pm and Wednesday 6.00 – 8.00pm. These can be transferred inside to the Indoor Track. Would all Hurdlers please make sure that they are in contact with their Coach Bob Groves at – [email protected] – to ensure you all know where you will be training.

Sprints
Mick Hitchon’s Sprint Group Sessions are Tuesday 6.30 – 8.00pm and Thursday 6.30 – 8.00pm
Michael Carr’s Sprint Group Sessions are Tuesday 6.30 – 8.00pm and Thursday 6.30 – 8.00pm

These Sessions can obviously clash so can all Sprinters please contact their respective Coaches to find out what they are going to do.

Hammer Group
Hammer Sessions are on Tuesday and Thursday 6.30 – 7.30 and sometimes on Sunday. Can all Hammer Throwers in Mick Hitchon’s Group contact him at – [email protected] – it maybe that some work can be done indoors or that sessions are moved to another Track but that is a decision which Mick will make.

Throws Group
These Sessions Coached by Jim Kerrigan in Discus, Shot & Javelin are on Tuesday and Thursday 6.30 – 7.30 and sometimes on Sunday. Can all Throwers in Jim Kerrigan’s Group contact him at [email protected] – it maybe that some work can be done indoors or that sessions are moved to another Track but that is a decision which Jim will make in conjunction with Mick Hitchon who coaches the Hammer Group.

Long & Triple Jump
These Sessions are held on Tuesday and Thursday 6.00 – 7.30pm. At this stage I am not sure what alternative arrangements can be made for this, which may involve moving to another Track. However, that decision is down to Mick Angland and all members of his Group should contact him at – [email protected] – in order to identify where and when Training will take place.

High Jump
These Sessions are held on Tuesday and Thursday 6.00 – 7.30pm. At this stage I am not sure what alternative arrangements can be made for this, which may involve moving to another Track. However, that decision is down to Joe Fleming and all members of his Group should contact him at – [email protected] – in order to identify where and when Training will take place.

Endurance
These sessions are held on Tuesday and Thursday, comprising different groups from 6.00 – 7.30pm and Coached by Richard Taylor. There are also scheduled sessions on some Saturdays coached by Jorma Jarvinen at 11.00am. Again these sessions may be transferred to another Track or maybe held in Witton Park on Grass, Road or Trail, but that is a decision for the Coaches who can be reached at – [email protected] – and – [email protected]

Pole Vault
These sessions Coached by Norman Mitchell take place on Wednesday between 7.00 – 8.30pm. Until I have spoken to Norman I am unsure as to how we will proceed with this so please check the website for updates.

ALL COACHES PLEASE NOTE
If you wish to use the Indoor Track outside of the Harriers exclusive Training periods which are on :
Sunday (11.00 – 1.00pm)
Tuesday (5.30 – 8.00pm)
Wednesday (5.30 – 8.30pm)
Thursday (5.30 – 8.00pm)
then you will need to make a formal booking, you cannot just turn up and think you will be able to use the Facility
If it is your intention to do so please let me know as soon as possible so that I can make the bookings and avoid any conflict between different groups who may want the same time.
