Fixture Three of the YDL (Lower Age Group) was hosted at Preston by Lancaster & Morecambe AC, the day producing fine weather and some very good performances overall. The Harriers finished 5th with 479 Match Points and only twenty three points away from 4th spot in the seven team division. With the first four Clubs all scoring 500 plus points, it was a tough ask to break into that group. Nevertheless, the athletes showed real team determination with some of them doing events for the first time and equally, taking on a number of events, producing sixteen individual wins, seven second and twelve third places and among those results twenty new PB’s.
In the U15 Throws National Ranked Number one – Charlotte Williams – maintained her 2016 undefeated winning streak, taking the Hammer with a throw of 52.16m and made it a double win by taking the ‘B’ Discus with 21.29m. Eloise Littlefair had one of the best performances of the day when she won the Shot Putt with a new PB distance of 11.63m, a distance which broke her own club record by 63cm. Charlotte Richardson in her first competition for the Club took a good 3rd spot in the ‘B’ Shot Putt with a throw of 7.17m. In the Boys Alex Bernstein who is bottom of age U15 made it a double win in the “A’ Hammer (40.56m) a new PB by over 3 metres and Discus (29.03m).
