The Harriers all though missing quite a number of athletes at the final fixture at Wigan – July 13th – nevertheless put in a great performance to finish 3rd on the day and 4th overall in the League. With a number of debutants for the Club in the U13 age group, there is no doubt that the experience this year will stand them in good stead for next season.

Amongst the debutants were U15 Nectario Maroudas in the 100m (12.6),  200m (26.4) and Long Jump (4.56m) – U15 Declan Livesey in the 1500m (5.20.3) – U15 Connor Hodson in the High Jump (1.65m) – U13 Robyn Mason in the 75m (12.4) and Shot Putt (3.82m) and U13 Tanya Brits in the 800m (3.41.2) backed up in the Javelin (8.99m).

Winners on the day included U15 Connor Davison in the Hammer & Shot Putt; U15 Jacob Roberts in the Discus and Hammer; Grace Handley in the 800m; Olivia Wilson Javelin; Brenna McPartlan Shot Putt; Kayla Masterson High Jump; and Esme Pearse High Jump & Pole Vault.

More pleasing was the fact that the athletes produced a whole number of new PB’s  – 22 in all – which is an indication of their progress through the season.

In the U15 Boys there were PB’s for Jack Jameson (80m Hurdles) 13.2; Cameron Massey (80m Hurdles) 13.4; Connor Davison (Hammer) 30.06m; Jacob Roberts (Discus) 18.41m and (Hammer) 18.50m.

Moving to the U13 Boys new PB’s were established by Ben Cecil ((200m) 29.3 and in the (800m) 2.38.8; Rhys Charnley (200m) 30.8; Seth Elliott (800m) 2.45.9; Daniel Fenwick (Javelin) 16.69m and Long Jump 4.30m.

Not to be outdone in the accumulation of PB’s were the girls. In the U15’s Grace Handley front ran her way to victory in the 800m for a new PB of 2.25.1; Olivia Wilson set a new PB in the 200m (30.5) and in the Javelin (18.73m); Brenna McPartlan also took a PB in the 1500m (5.48.4); Elizabeth Ashcroft set a PB in the 75m Hurdles with 12.6; Kayla Masterson in the same event also set a new PB of 13.9 as well as a PB in the High Jump (1.35m).

Three of the U13 Girls came away with PB’s including Anjalie Singh in the 75m (12.3sec) and Long Jump (3.35m); Emily Taberner in the Javelin (16.90) and Hannah Cookson 150m (21.0sec.
