There have been good early season performances by some of the young women athletes in recent Open Meetings.
Rebecca Orrell competed at the Liverpool Open Jumps & Throws Fixture on April 12th and came away with a first throw of the season of 23.54m in the U17W Discus and a PB of 40.44m in the U17W 3k Hammer Throw. At the Blackpool Open in March, Rebecca with her first 4k Hammer Throw of the season achieved 33.24m.
Charlotte Williams and Emily Raine also competed at the Blackpool Open with good early season results. U13 Charlotte won the 80m Hurdles in a new PB of 12.9, knocking over half a second off her previous best. In the Shot Putt, she extended her PB by another 30cm to take 4th place with 7.06m and backed that up finishing 3rd in the Long Jump (3.73m). U13 Emily took nearly a second off her PB in winning the 80m Sprint with a time of 11.6 and then just missed out on another PB by the slimmest of margins – one second – in jumping 3.39m in the Long Jump.
