In the Senior Mens Race 312 Men and Women lined up making an impressive long line in the ascent up to the Pike. Tom Cornthwaite running for Northumberland Fell Runners and Gary Priestley for Salford Harriers (both 2nd Claim on the Track for Blackburn), treated us to a cracking Race with just 3 seconds seperating them at the finish – Tom (18:04) edging out Gary (18:07). Another 2nd Claim member for Blackburn – Josh Tighe – and again running for Northumberland Fell Runners ran a good race to finish 6th overall (18:50)
Zac Howe led the rest of the Harriers home in 30th place – 6th U20M (20:49); John Sutton 36th (21:11); Joseph Howe 61st and 6th U18M (22:36); Matt Nuttall – running with a titanium plate in his shoulder having broken his collar bone in three places 91st (23:33); John Cookson 165th (26:21). With Kate and Hannah Cookson both competing and siblings Zac, Jospeh and Phoebe Howe also competing, that meant we had two families on the day who eached turned out three competitors in the different age groups.
V60 Stalwart Stuart Furness came 199th (27:55) and Lisa Nuttall – who smiled all the way up and all the way down – finished 300th (34:35)
