Some great performances by Harriers athletes who are at University in their performances Indoors this week.

U20 Joe Pearse (Cardiff Uni) who had twelve clearances of 1.90m and above in 2014 with a PB of 1.96, strove to get to the 2.00m mark and nearly did it on a couple of occasions. First event out at Indoors in 2015 saw him do that at the Inter-Varsity Fixture in Lee Valley on Wednesday January 4th. Joe was really happy and said that it was First comp for uni and won it” setting a new personal best of 2.00m.

U20 Connor Makin (Loughborough Uni) also competed at the Inter-Varsity Fixture in the 400m and 200m. Connor knocked a second of his 400m previous best in finishing 4th and then had his first ever go at the 200m Relay where Loughborough finished 4th in this Team event. He told the Club afterwards that my 400 in 51.6 which is an indoor pb and 0.2 off my outdoor pb was good, 3rd 100 was poor so a 50 high is possible at the weekend – 200 split on relay – 23.2 never ran it before so was good”

Karl Billington (St Mary’s College) is having a good start to 2015 as evidenced again by his run and new PB in the Mile Race at the Vivo Bare Foot Open 3000m & Dream Mile event at Lee Valley.  Karl whose previous best was 4.19.7 outdoors posted a new PB in a time of 4.18.64 when finishing 4th in the ‘A’ Race, a full second faster and equating to an even faster time outdoors. Karl commented that he had Decided fairly last minute to do this race because of BUCS Saturday but it very rare you get to race a mile indoors in the UK, so it was a hard opportunity to pass up. Very pleased to come away with a PB off just high volume grass sessions and no track work“.
