It was a pretty good day for the Harriers Throwers at the Liverpool Harriers Throws & Jumps Open held on Saturday 9th April with five Blackburn Harriers taking three first places in their respective events.

Performance of the day came from U15 Charlotte Williams in winning the Hammer (3kg) with a new PB of 53.54m, placing her No. 1 in the Country in her age group and breaking her own Club Record by nearly three metres and this, in only her second outing of the season.
Bottom of age U17 Anthony Kent – the current Club Record holder for the Discus with 41.23m this season – won his event with a throw of 35.99m. Anthony currently lies in 3rd place in the National Rankings, just a metre and half behind the No. 1 spot. Anthony told the Club that “I had a great day at Liverpool on Saturday and I was looking to get a PB. However just before my event it started to rain which resulted in a wet circle. I did not get a PB but I came first so overall it was a good day”.
U17 Jacob Roberts – currently in 2nd spot in the National Rankings (65.39m this season) – won the Hammer with a throw of 64.61m. Having been out four times this season already and winning all four events with throws from 61.00 – 65.39m shows a really good consistent set of performances.
U15 Alex Bernstein who is at No.6 in the National Rankings in the Hammer (33.75m) came 2nd on the day with a throw of 30.49m. Alex started off the season with a throw of 28.36m and has added over 5 metres to his performances.
U20 Rebecca Orrell is also at No. 6 in the National Hammer Rankings (46.76m) had one of those days and placed 7th with a throw of 36.84m.

HULL Spring Open Meeting
After competing at Liverpool on the Saturday so well, Hammer Throwers Jacob Roberts and Charlotte Williams were up in Hull on Sunday and another Competition which ended up with wins for both of them – Charlotte winning the U15 Hammer (3kg) with a throw of 51.97m and Jacob the U17 Hammer (5kg) with a distance of 63.98m.
