Stirling, Scotland was the venue for the hosting of the The 6th Monument Mile Classic on Saturday 26th August featuring a series of 29 graded one mile races. (RESULTS). Race 27 run at 9.10pm on Saturday featured Blackburn Harriers Daniel Bebbington who has been in very good form setting new personal best times for 3000m (8.06.88) at the World Athletics Challenge in Birmingham on July 29th, followed by a new personal best in the 5000m (14.09.84) at the World Athletics Challenge in Trafford on August 12th. A week later Daniel ran for the Club in the Northern League Premier West Division taking wins in the 800m and 1500m races as well as anchoring the teams 4 x 400m team.

The form that he has been in was on display in Stirling as he went through the 1500m in 3rd place (3.45.73) and powered on to take the win in a fabulous time of 4.00.84. The Club Record for Blackburn Harriers is held by Jason Lobo (4.00.39) set at an Invitational Meeting in Ireland in July 1991 – Daniel was just over 4 tenths outside that time and there is little doubt that he will be challenging that again in 2024 with the intention of breaking it. Speaking to the Club after his Race Daniel told us that he was “Very happy with my race on Saturday running a new personal best and winning the race against a quality field. So close to the club record and also the sub 4 barrier! Both will have to wait until next year but I’m confident that I will be able to do it.
