Blackburn Harriers top of age U17 Kara Dacosta has already had a very busy start to the season, competing again at the weekend after being invited to the Guest 400m Women’s B race at the Loughborough International on Sunday May 21st. Middlesborough’s U20 Charlotte Lily Kelsey won the race clocking 55.38 as Kara placed 5th running a time of 57.12 and just outside her personal best of 56.90. The qualifying time is 55.1 for the Commonwealth Junior Games – the selection policy stating that athletes have until June 19th to secure the time.

Daniel Bebbington lined up in the Gandy Mile at the Loughborough International in a field of nine. Going into the race Daniel had a personal best time of 4.12.43 and was looking to improve on that in only his second race of the season – his first being an 800m BMC race the week before. It turned out to be a very good run for him as he set a new PB time of 4.07.79 in 3rd place, a huge improvement by close to five seconds. Speaking to the Club afterwards, Daneil told us that ot was “Very early in the season for me as it was the second race but it felt a lot better than my first. Pleased to come away with 3rd, and happy with my quick last lap but just left it too late to get anywhere near the top 2 guys. Something to learn from and use for the rest of my season
