Second fixture of the Sale Winter Indoor Series at Sportcity at the weekend – Sunday December 18th – which featured a number of Blackburn Harriers making their second appearances of the Indoor season. (RESULTS). Thanks to Lee Schofield for the Videos from Sportcity.

Senior Brandon Zimyemba was having his first race since July 2021 over the 60 metres alongside his team mate U23 Lewis Slack in Heat 3 of the 60m. With a best time of 7.23 Indoors, Brandon showed he was on his way back from injury clocking 7.33 in 4th spot whilst Lewis set himself a new PB of 7.34 in 5th position. U20 Samuel Mutombo took 4th place in Heat 7 running 7.8. U17 Kara Dacosta took nearly a tenth of her time in winning Heat 13 in a new PB time of 8.10. Heat 16 had 2nd year U17 Charlie Unsworth and 1st year U17 Daniel Nuttall lining up together, Charlie coming home in 2nd place (7.28) and Daniel in 3rd (7.31).  Second winner of the day for the Harriers came in Heat 19 with a win for James Tierney who broke 8 seconds for  the first time and set himself a new PB of 7.94. Millee Schofield – 1st year U17 – provided the third win of the day in Heat 21 of the 60m clocking a new PB of 8.01 and another new PB came for Alisha Lehner in Heat 24 as she came in 2nd with a time of 8.74.

On to the 300m and in Heat 9 Brandon Zinyemba posted himself a win with a time of 40.62 along side team mate John iLunga in the same Heat having his first race of the Indoor season in 2nd spot running 42.15. Charlie Unsworth was on fire in Heat 14 of the 300m chopping 7 tenths off his previous best to set himself a new PB of 37.04 in taking the win and a time which puts him in at No 11 in the National Rankings. Heat 15 of the 300m saw Daniel Nuttall clock 39.74 in 3rd whilst in Heat 17 there was the second win of the day for Millee Schofield as she cut over 7 tenths off her best time to set a new PB of 43.16. Kara Dacosta ran her first ever 400m winning comfortably in a very good time of 58.32 which takes her straight into No 12 in the National Rankings. Codie Dewhurst had a fine run in his 600m race clocking a new PB by over three seconds as he came 4th in a time of 1.28.86. Final perforamnce of the day came from 1st year U17 Alisha Lehner in the 60m Hurdles, a Heat which she won in a new PB time of 10.06 improving her time by well over a tenth.

It is that time of year again – Turkey Trot Time – with the race attracting it’s noted array of costuumes and characters, all lined up to have a bit of fun. Rumour has it that two Dinosaurs – closlely related to Matt Nuttall and Nick Gaskell were seen warming up for the race with what might be called unconventional drill patterns!! And here is the alleged proof (VIDEO)

RACE RESULTS

Ilkley’s Tom Adam won the race in 28.00 from Leeds City’s Nathan Marsh in 2nd (28.06) and Blackburn Harriers Joe Bridge in 3rd running 30.10. Not sure whether Joe knew much about the local weather but he certainly came dressed for a different environment! V55 Gary Pearse was next home in 30th place –  out of a field of 226 finishers – running 41.30 and followed by one of the Dinosaurs Matt Nuttall in 39th (44.32), Mark Wilkin running for Running4CF in 61st  place (47.41),  Calvin Ferguson in 87th (51.56), Jonathan Bridge finishing 91st in a time of 52.28 and it is believed – Dinosaur No 2 in 105th position (Nick Gaskell) with a time of 54.22.
