The British Indoor Athletics Championships held in Birmingham over the weekend February 17/18th saw Dominic Walton set himself a new indoor 800m PB in winning his Heat in a time of 1.49.78 to qaulify for the Final. Three athletes came to the finishing line in this race virtually altogether with Dominic taking the inside lane to come through with a dip over the line, Tiarnan Crorken taking 2nd place in the same time and Callum Dodds in 3rd spot (1.49.86). (Semi-Final Video) – (RESULTS)

In the Final Jack Higgins pulled off a surprise win, demonstrating once again that when a race is an actual championship race rather than a paced time trial, results can often deliver the unexpected. Dominic placed 5th in the Final in a time of 1.53.60 and spoke to the Harriers afterwards about his weekend commenting “I won’t say sorry because I’ve got nothing to be sorry for, but I didn’t have it. Was expecting to be sort of fighting for a medal and after yesterday I thought I could at least PB again – I think a mixture of exhaustion and nerves got the better of me. It just wasn’t my day but it’s highlighted my weaknesses and I absolutely am not taking it for granted to make the final. These days happen and I’m forever grateful for all those that reached out with their support. Thank you, all!

In America, David Holman was racing again this time in the JDL Last Chance Invitational on Saturday February 17th (RESULTS). In Heat 1 David took the win in a time of 1.55.47 from fellow college athlete Brent Suratt in 2nd (1.56.91) and Zach Moore in 3rd (1.57.74). The race was part of his preparation for the Conference which comes up a week later and demonstrates the form he is in. David spoke to the Club after the race telling us “I raced a 800 today to get another time for conference. The plan was to sit behind for 600 then just try and win it. I ended up doing that and won and ran 1:55.47. The time converts to 1:53.5 as it was a flat track. So a pb in the 800 technically. But it was just to get a faster time for conference and now it puts me 1st in the conference. I’m doing the mile and the 800 next week at conference.”
