The Trafford Grand Prix on Tuesday evening August 15th attracted quite a number of athletes to the last Grand Prix fixture there this year – 80 athletes alone entering the 3000m along with 10 Heats of the 800m and 7 Heats in the 1500m, similarly in the Throws which featured 22 athletes in the Discus and 21 in the Shot Putt. First Heat of four 3000m races saw V40 Ben Fish run a seasons best time of 8.48.66 followed by Stephen Walter in Heat 2 clocking a new PB by seven seconds with his time of 9.22.58. In Heat 3 Codie Dewhurst ran a big new PB, running 9.33.25 whilst Isabel Holt ran a seasons best time crossing the line in 10.21.69 with Evie Taylor clocking 10.50.48 in the final Heat 4.

U20 Hayden Mercer clocked a seasons best time of 2.01.63 in Heat 4 of the 800m (3rd) whilst in Heat 7 U17 George Ramsden came 4th in a time of 2.11.85 – the rest of the 800m Heats being postponed whilst the BMC Races took preference. Once resumed, U20 Keira Haxton clocked 2.28.75 in Heat 10 whilst U17 Charlotte Robertshaw ran a new PB of 2.27.94, improving by just under a second.

The first Heat of the 1500m saw Matt Ramsden and Ben Makin contest – Matt finishing in 2nd place with a seasons best time of 3.53.4 and Ben clocking 4.02.40. Heat 6 saw Maddie Elliott move to the front early after the first lap to take the win in a time of 4.40.21.

In the Throws, Tony Balko took on Discus and Shot Putt which had very big pools – over 20 athletes in each – which saw Tony throw 30.56m in the Discus (1.5kg) and 10.03m in the Shot Putt (6kg).
