Almost a perfect day greeted the athletes for the penultimate fixture in this years Mid Lancs T & F League at Edge Hill, Ormskirk with thirty members of the Harriers involved.

RESULTS

Senior Thrower Tony Balko (V50) added the 100m to his list of competitions taking 2nd place in the 100m (Heat 2) in a time of 13.70 and a very competitive race for positions two, three and four. Dom Bretherton took on the 200m against Dominic Walton who had won the 400m that afternoon in 49.30. In his second ever 200m Dom won a really good race by a tenth holding off Dominic Walton in a time of 23.50. Another thrower having a go at the sprints was U17 Jacob Roberts in the 100m and he also had a good run in 3rd place with a time of 12.20. In the U15 Boys 100m Ben Whittaker equaled his PB of 12.80 in the 100m (3rd) and set a new PB in the 200m when he placed 3rd again in a time of 26.30. Brother George Whittaker ran the 200m in U13’s placing 5th in 31.50 and Thrower Cameron Harris (U15) had a go at the 100m for the first time coming home in 6th spot (13.60).

In the Women’s Sprints Hayley Candler ran 28.80 in 4th place for the Senior Women’s 200m and improvement of a second since her last run over the distance. Emily Warren was just a tenth outside her PB over the 100m (3rd in 13.30) and in only her third ever race over the 300m she came home in 2nd spot with 44.20. In the U13 Girls Sprints Christie Sturgess set a new PB in the 100m (3rd) in 14.30 and in her first shot at the 200m came 3rd again in 29.20. Myah Booth also set a new PB in the 100 when she knocked three tenths off, finishing 5th in 14.10 and then placed 3rd in the 200m, her first attempt at the distance, in a time of 30.60. Eleesha Charnley had a great win in the U13 200m coming from behind with a time of 29.20 which was a new PB by seven tenths.

Joe Monk took on the Senior 800m placing 5th in 2.06.30 and then jumped into the 400m with very little recovery to take another 5th place in 58.70. Not a bad training session. Harvey Griffin ran his first race for the Harriers in the U15 800m and ran really well to finish 2nd in 2.07.00 which was a new PB by six tenths. Also in the U15’s was Leon Thomas who cut over a second off his time to set a new PB of 2.19.40 in 7th place and that a day after he had run in the Fire Station Relays in Blackpool. In the U15 Girls 1500m Amy Davies ran a solid race in 2nd place with a time of 5.18.00 whilst in the U13’s Eleesha Charnley ran just outsider her 800m PB coming home 2nd in 2.34.80 and in the 1500m Charlotte Corrigan came 4th in a time of 5.33.80 which wasn’t far off her PB, whilst Ella Hardman ran 6.13.80 (6th).

In the Throws Simon Brown took a double win in the Senior Men’s Shot Putt (11.18m) and the Discus with 36.75m. In the Hammer it was a win for Tony Balko with a throw of 31.63m and then a 5th in the Shot Putt (9.46m) with Connor Davison in 6th spot (8.55m) whilst in the Discus Tony came 3rd with a throw of 29.43m and Connor 5th with 26.80m who then went on to take 5th spot in the Javelin (27.27m). Anthony Kent threw 10.65m in the U17 Shot Putt (4th), came 3rd in the Discus with 34.25m and 2nd in the Hammer with a new PB of 44.77m. Lucas Davies was 7th in the Discus (22.93m) and 9th in the Javelin (23.05m).

Jacob Roberts won the Hammer with a throw of 62.63m. Another double win, this time for Alex Bernstein in the U15 Throws with 9.20m in the Shot Putt and 35.44m in the Hammer. Cameron Harris just missed a PB in the Shot Putt by cms placing 6th with 7.89m then took 3rd spot in the Javelin with 26.88m. Kieron Carroll finished 4th in the U13 Shot Putt (6.03m) and 2nd in the Javelin with 24.57m with George Whittaker just behind in 3rd (20.73m).

Charlotte Williams won the U17 Hammer equaling her PB with a throw of 54.39m from Guest Thrower Charlotte Stuchbury (42.45m). Eloise Littlefair who is the Clubs U15 Record Holder for the Shot won the competition with a throw of 10.91m and then made it the third Blackburn Harrier on the day to record double wins when she took the Discus with 24.62m and followed that up with a 4th placed throw of 24.53m in the Javelin. Three young U13 Girls taking on the Throws with Nicky Saunders 6th in the Shot Putt (5.81m), Caterina Lombard 7th (5.65m) and Danielle Probert 10th with 4.42m. In the Discus Nicky took 2nd spot with 19.03m whilst Caterina finished 5th (12.59m). Myah Booth won the Javelin with a throw of 23.35m, just outsider her PB, with Danielle Probert 6th (15.40m) and Nicky Saunders 7th (14.79m).

In the Jumps George Whittaker cleared 3.65m in the U13 Boys Long Jump; Emily Warren jumped 4.41m in the U15 Girls Long Jump (4th) just a few cms outside her best and the U13 Girls Long Jump saw Emma Love placing 5th out of 19 with a distance of 3.83m and Charlotte Corrigan 15th with 3.17m. In her first ever attempt at the High Jump Emma Love cleared 1.30m for 4th place which was a very good effort.
