Karl competed in the 3000m won by Scott Halstead in 8.15.98 coming in an excellent 4th with a new PB of 8.17.19 and was delighted telling the Club that he was  “absolutely over the moon to finally run under 8 20, it’s been a long 5 year wait to do this. It was a very messy race with around 30 people in the race, I was running in lane 3 for the first 600m. It was a very slow first half, i ended up running at 4 02/3 second 1500. So there’s hopefully more to come in a honest race”. Zac ran in the 800m won by Joe Strange in 1.52.73 – with Zac finishing 3rd in a new PB in another excellent time of 1.53.92 –  over two seconds faster than his previous best.

To complete a hat trick of PB’s for these young lads, Ben knocked nearly nine seconds off his best time to set a new PB of 2.19.7 in the 600m and set another PB in the 75m with a time of 12.1, down by nearly a second.

In the Sunday Y 3/4 Girls event Amelia Cowin came 4th with 111 points and in the Saturday Boys Y 3/4 event Max Peel came 7th (97 points) and Oliver Newsham 8th with 78 points.

Danny Teare gave a flavour of some of the events when he commented that it was a “Cold day – wind, rain, 7 degrees. Great camaraderie between the team. In particular, the Massey brothers were helping the u13 boys with the long jump, coaching tips etc – but in particular they were really supportive. Jamie and Rory were really chuffed to be getting such support from athletes to which they look up. Ben Aspinall came down just to watch and support our athletes. However, he was very proactive in helping Jamie with his LJ too. Jamie got 4.27 PB – that support made all the difference.

The yr 5 quad lads had a great time. They were joining in all the warm ups that Caer was running, and they played football constantly between the events! Think it was a fast day for them – faster than it was for the cold parents and marshalls! Caer did a great job, especially with the team tent! John and I were taking notes!Jamie had a blast of a day. He was first in each event and was consistently saying what a great day he was having. He was pumped. Rory was a tad disappointed with third – but he was still very happy with his day.
